No Bleach Manga This Week!

Posted by anpan on Thursday, November 19, 2009 At 05:21 AM
Kubo is taking a week off, so there will be no Bleach manga this week. What to do instead? Read manga or type! Or you could be boring and do work. Don't be boring.

It shouldn't take more than 5-8 hours to draw it up, 5-8 minutes to write the words.

OK, so I'm sitting at home, compelled by sheer boredom to have the following nasty thought.

Spoiler:
What would Mickey Mouse's Bankai look like?

LOL

Spoiler:
If that is ryujin jakka then its officially the end of the world. I saw a pic the other day of what would happen if a place like DISNEY ended up doing an anime interpretation. Even now, I shudder and my soul shrivels at the horror that image provoked. Try to imagine Capt. Psycho (12th) with the general look and attitude (albeit a bit twisted) of the genie from alladin.
OH GAWD!!! A nasty thought emerges again!
Has anyone ever tried to draw the bleach chars disney-style?

Have a look at this.

That's one page of a comic much earlier in its life than Bleach, which a much smaller cast than Bleach, with much less continuity to worry about than Bleach. And it took her 4 hours to draw, with another 2 of general scripting/layout.

So, yeah, when you've got a large ensemble cast spread out across multiple locations with a long backstory to worry about, writing and drawing roughly 20 pages every week can be very much a full-time job.

tl;dr? Moral of the story: don't be a dick.

@ Jeffro-tull

I took a peek there.

Spoiler:

Man, Just one page huh? Kinda makes me wonder what Kubo's flat looks like. Prolly all covered in maps an' post-it notes just to keep track of what's going on, in spite of the fact that he prolly also has a number of staffers working for him. Also puts into perspective a bit why you don't (or rather, didn't) see all the flash & bang we like to associate with our dearly beloved (and departed) bleach characters. Increased workload which will lead to the quality of the manga suffering. Helluva lot to do for Kubo. Poor guy's been cranking out Bleach since 2000-and-Daft, and its still looking good.

@ TotalHypnosis

Spoiler:
I bloody hope he's not watching porn, my old high-school teacher says that stuff influences and warps the mind. I find that thought almost as disturbing as a mental image of Kenpachi going bankai, turning into a ballerina and promptly savaging his enemies to death with a powder puff.

wacko
